So the government has identified people who laundered more than 200 crore. The question I have is why they are fixated on 200 crore? How did they make the decision that they would not go below 200 crore? How come 200 crore becomes the magic figure?
My guess is that the government decided not to go below 200 crore as if they decided to go below, there were chances that certain government officials would be exposed as money launderers. And lots of current government officials would get caught and they certainly do not want that to happen.
From the news report it is not clear if anyone ask the Finance Advisor to publish the names of the person identified. I mean why not. Let the people know the name and shame them. But then again, this is Bangladesh. Transparency is just a word.

Tarique Rahman is promising to take care of a lot of helpless people who are victims of various crimes. I assume that means he will provide them monetary support. I am all for it. But my question is who is taking care of him. Apparently he does not involved in any monkey making activities other than being a full time politician. To the best of my knowledge, he does not have any income. There was a claim by a BNP leader that he is surviving on the support of his in-laws .
If that is true, the question is how is he taking responsibility for other people when he himself cannot take care of himself.
